Saving Ely Cinema

The support has been tremendous. 64 interested parties attended our second Public Meeting to Save the Cinema on Tuesday 3rd December

The Maltings Ely

Babylon Arts has agreed to transfer the management of the Maltings venue to the Dawe Charitable Trust (DCT) which makes it possible for us to Save The Cinema. Babylon Arts is fully cooperating with us in the handover and we are planning to re-open the Cinema early in the New Year.

You, our many volunteers, are also making it possible for us to Save The Cinema and you have been allocated to 5 groups under the titles of:

Public Facing, Screening Technical, Marketing & Ticketing, Administration and Friends of Cinema. Working with us, Peter Dawe and Linda Neate, these groups will be organising the day to day activities.

If you have volunteered and don’t hear from us shortly,  please get in touch with lindaneateely@gmail.com. If you wish to volunteer and haven’t yet, also get in touch with me.

We plan to continue initially in the same historic way, however, within 3 months we will be holding another meeting to discuss suggestions and new ideas to further enhance the Ely Community Cinema and secure its future.

We have our heads down right now getting on with the transfer, but if you have any immediate questions or observations please get in touch with me on the above email.
